The only farming Robert Bettes did growing up in Bosque Farms, New Mexico was planting the seed for his future in public performance and entertainment. Though he earned his first Bachelor degree in Broadcast Journalism at Arizona State University, it was his love and talent for acting that fed his desire to be on television. After earning yet another degree in Atmospheric Physics from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Robert found himself launching weather balloons for the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, Texas before landing his first television job at ABC-7 KVIA TV in El Paso, Texas.
As the wacky morning weather guy, Robert quickly found an opportunity to combine his degrees with his talent for acting. He wrote, directed and starred in his own "skits" providing his audience with the most informative and entertaining weather casts. It was no surprise he was promoted to Chief Meteorologist within a few short years.
Robert left KVIA in November 2002 to produce and host The Open House Show. In June 2004, Robert returned to weathercasting as Chief Meteorologist of KDBC 4 News, where he appears weeknights at 5, 6 and 10 pm. Please visit www.kdbc.com for more information about the station.
Robert has been married to Amy since June 1997 and is the father of three wonderful children: Mason, William, and Corbin, a daughter.
Robert would love to hear from you. You can drop him a line at openhouseshow@sbcglobal.net |
